Susquehanna River Report

Wild East Outfitters has recently released a report on the Susquehanna River. You can visit their site ( for more information or to book a trip.

The Susquehanna is officially on fire. The white fly hatches have started and will only get better from this point on. We are catching a lot of fish on top-water poppers along with Murdich Minnows, and Clousers fished deep. We are finding a lot of fish hanging along grass beds in water ranging from a foot to 3 feet deep and they are exploding on poppers. I’ve been saying this for a while now but the Susquehanna is easily one of the best smallmouth fisheries in the country and that smallmouth bass are the perfect fly rod fish.

We’ve been targeting the Amity Hall area on the Juniata and the Duncannon area on the Susquehanna. Numbers of fish caught per day have been ranging anywhere from 15 to 60 fish with most ranging from about 10-14 inches with a handful each day that are breaking the 18 inch mark. We have gotten a couple that have been 20 inches and above.

If you’d like to line up a trip between now and November, contact Nick Raftas.
